This is the dollhouse from the front. The new additions consist mostly of pictures of appliences cut from magazines and pasted to the walls to give the impression of more furnishings. The Sears ads in the Sunday paper were a great source. I found myself using heavily from a bag of mixed beads I picked up from Michael's for just a couple of dollars. I'd strongly recommend someone attempting this project invest in some. The uses are countless.
This is the kitchen area of the house. The only changes were in adding a cutting board and a refridgerator. Needless to say Elijah likes to be able to get food from the fridge and prepare it.
The tv is another cutout. The picture was a locket sized photo of my sister glued to a large round bead. The cutting job isn't very precise, but the effect is still good.
The addition to this part of the house is a set of shelves I cut out of Parent's magazine. I've noticed that they feature projects in their articles and when they do, they shrink the images down to a great size for cutting out.
The bedroom is where I made the most changes. I added a border to the walls around the room using leftover pieces of my scrapbooking paper. It sells for about a quater a sheet and comes in just about any pattern you could think of. I made a mirror out of the door I cut from the dividing wall between the bedroom and the gold room. I just covered it with tin foil. Add a cut out window over the bed and another bookshelf and you've got the room.
The dresser is a piece of furniture I made that fits in the room and everything, but it's kind of a tight squeeze so I end up taking out the wall for Elijah when he uses it. It's made from a box of diaper rash cream that I painted brown (as a sign of how cheap I am, I just mixed the red and green paint together), the drawers and knobs are drawn on with a black marker (freehand, in case you can't tell) and the mirror is just tin foil.
The gold room started without a point and ended up as a bathroom. I thought i'd make a cool egg carton chair, but when I didn't paint it, he decided it should be a potty. The potty is a huge deal to him right now. It's a really small room, but I think if I use a small box I should be able to add a sink.

I've started on another box. I'm not sure what I'm going to do with it quite yet since it's quite tall, but not very deep. I've also finished a pond with made from rocks and easter grass. It features a egg carton bench and is quite the thing. Look for more pictures to follow as the house develops.
